Ann made me very comfortable during the thermal imaging experience. I’m a bit modest and so the complete disrobing in front of a camera was bound to feel awkward. Patricia Luccardi Sadly there are many thermography companies with poor images, one didn’t have numbers for the heat scale, some on the old TS ratings, another no access to the interpting doctor. Poor images, no grayscale...It’s no wonder the FDA is looking at Thermography. BTI stands among the crowd leading the way to a standardization in the industry.

Thank you for making the thermography procedure so comfortable for me. You explained the protocol very well before, during and after the test and you answered every one of my questions in a professional manner. The test itself was painless and didn't take that long.
The reports I received via email, were very detailed and the images which were in both black/white and color were clear and easy to understand. During the after care consult via telephone, you carefully went over each page and image pointing out the most important areas of possible concern and making recommondations for further follow ups.

Hi Ann, I wanted to thank you and also share some good news. First, thank you for seeing me recently. And so quickly! You are such a bright light and you always make my appointments easy and relaxed. And thank you for the meditation app. I have been using it everyday since I saw you and it's awesome! I'm finally meditating again (and sometimes I just listen and fall asleep). It's been wonderful. Thank you for that and for all the positive vibes. I also started reading the book 'The Truth about Cancer'. Not sure if you recommended it, but others have. If you're not familiar, look it up as it resonates with so much of what you do and share. Great information! Now my good news... I went to Beth Israel last week for a mammogram and an ultrasound. I refused the mammo and only did the ultrasound. I have to tell you that everyone there was super respectful of my choice to forgo the mammo. I did have to listen to two doctors highly recommend the mammo and tell me how minimal the radiation is, blah blah blah, but in the end, they understood my position and respected it. The good news is that the ultrasound showed NOTHING! The tech did the ultrasound first, found nothing, and had the radiologist/Dr. come in to review. The dr. then did her own ultrasound and still saw nothing. Then a 2nd radiologist/Dr. came in and she did a third ultrasound and still nothing. They believe what I'm feeling (and they all felt it too) is just dense breast tissue. YAY! The 2nd doctor did say that even though she felt all was clear, she still recommended the mammo as 1. it is their protocol to do both, and 2. to check for any calcification. I denied the mammo and they seemed okay with that. I still need to schedule an appt with Dr. Nordine at Groton and will ask her opinion about the heat in my lower right mouth. I feel hugely relieved, however, I know the thermogram showed some increase in heat in the area of concern on the breast. I'm not sure what to do about that. ??? By the way, I brought all 5 past thermograms to my ultrasound appt and no one was interested in reading them. oh well. I'm feeling super grateful and am 'cleaning up' a bit. I've tightened up my diet, eating more vegis, I'm still exercising almost daily and I'm now meditating. I've also pulled out my rebounder and will start with that again. The following is my testimonial regarding my thermography experience on September 29, 2015. I am happy to provide it and hope it is of some useful purpose.
“To anyone considering breast thermography vs. breast mammography, I’d like to share my recent experience with Ann Barker at Breast Awareness Imaging, LLC., a thermography provider. Ann sees clients at two local offices, making it convenient for many. Although my PCP is not yet on board with thermography, apparently due to lack of education thus far, four other health care providers of mine, all of whom I hold in high regard, including a medical doctor, a nurse midwife/OB-GYN, a naturopathic doctor, and a massage therapist, not only knew of the technology and advantages of thermographic imaging, but highly endorsed it and encouraged me to seek it out. Mainstream medicine and insurance coverage seem lagging in providing care and coverage of thermography, but I hope, and believe, that will change.
My personal experience and exam were comfortable, Ann was knowledgeable and supportive, my personal needs and modesty were respected, Ann explained all aspects and follow-up of the procedure in terms I could understand. My report of findings from the exam was very detailed and thorough, and came back to me within a few days, and was also provided to my PCP. I will never go back to regular breast mammography because of the increased accuracy, safety, and comfort of the thermographic imaging procedure. I have recommended this, and Ann, to others desiring an alternative exam of breasts and other body-areas.”

For many years, I'd been avoiding getting another mammogram. I know I shouldn't have delayed, but the last time I had one it was so excruciatingly painful that I nearly fainted. They actually had to sit me down to rest and sip a glass of water, that's how bad it was!

When I learned that breast thermography could detect cancer or pre-cancer earlier than a mammogram and did not harm my body in the process, I knew it was something I wanted to take advantage of. I have had two mammograms in the past that left my breast tissues slightly bruised and sensitive for several days afterward.
The entire thermography process was comfortable, non-invasive and pain free. Ann was very professional and made me feel at ease. When I received my images there was an area detected to keep an eye on but nothing that would necessitate me having to go in for further testing right away. I just had my second breast thermography exam a few weeks ago and happy to report that it was normal. I enjoy having these tests, through Ann, because it's pain free, quick and easy, no compression against my breast tissue, no harmful radiation and it's able to detect any issues earlier than other methods. I get a call and the actual report in a very short time span, which I like and feel is more personal, rather than a postcard/letter several weeks later in the mail with the results. It's definitely a safer and nonintrusive way of examining one's breasts!
I was delighted to discover an unobtrusive, painless screening alternative to the dreaded mammogram. As a holistic practitioner, I am not interested in subjecting myself to the harmful radiation and uncomfortable compression of a mammogram; both of which seem counterintuitive to self-care. Even with a history of a lumpectomy and then years later a biopsy, I am confident in the ability of thermography to detect issues long before mammograms would. After being told by a friend that there was a better way to screen for cancer than mammography, my interest was piqued. I am sick and tired of going even once a year to get my breasts flattened between a plastic plate that feels thoroughly uncomfortable. Of course, if it means that cancer can be detected sooner, rather than waiting for symptoms, I would do anything to prevent that kind of situation.
But now I don't have to! I was elated to say the least to be able to take a different approach in detecting any breast abnormalities, yet still fulfilling my obligation to my Ob-Gyn to be screened in some way. So after researching locations for thermography screenings, I chose one closest to my childhood home in Saxtons River, Vermont--that is, the Center for Homeopathy, in Brattleboro, Vermont. Upon meeting Ann Barker, I found her to have a very warm and welcoming presence, as well as having a very professional approach.
The process of thermography is so simple and pleasant. All you need to do are a few simple poses (with your shirt off, of course). She will show you the end result in grey and colored images. Ann submits them to a physician for review. She makes herself available for any phone calls of concern and can send the report by e-mail. The entire process was convenience to the max.
It is definitely a shame that insurance companies have "no codes" and will not pay for a thermography like they pay for mammograms. We can certainly pray that it will be sooner, rather than later that those responsible for that will catch up to the technology and do what is right for the patients.
Since the screening, I have taken copies to my Internist, Dr. Mark Bartiss, whom I found thanks to Ann Barker, when she mentioned that she had a physician who practiced Alternative Medicine. After Ann showed me the images, she explained to me that the images showed an actual overproduction of estrogen, which is often how breast cancer is fueled. After surfing the internet to find a doctor who practices Alternative Medicine and can assist people whose hormone levels are improperly imbalanced with bio identical hormone therapy (unlike the synthetic hormone replacement medicine used by other doctors), I found Dr. Bartiss, who practices in Manahawkin, New Jersey, close to where I live. I am grateful for Ann's expertise, availability and general caring attitude, along with her enthusiasm for thermography screening. With her and Dr. Bartiss, I feel I am getting better care than before, and will nip any issues that may have cropped up in the bud.
The main advantages of the thermogram are significant:
No radiation
No breast-mashing (which can rupture existing tumors)
Earlier detection of cancer-enabling situations (heat and increased vasculature)
Ability to track over time the efficacy of lifestyle changes by seeing a cooling affect (green/blue) or heating (yellow/orange/red) in the breast tissue.
Since all cancers create heat, and this is a heat photograph, it can catch cancers that have been missed by mammograms when the breast tissue is dense.
If Big Health Care hadn't already invested so much money in mammography technology which takes years and years to recoup,the benefits of thermograms would be more widely known.
